Region I Leadership Lunch - Tuesday July 21, 2009

Dear Region I Deans and Sub Deans,
You are cordially invited to our Region I Leadership Lunch Meeting to be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 21 Centre Street, Concord, New Hampshire 03301, on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 starting at 11:45a! (Google Map directions here.)

Our Region's Pipe Organ Encounter, sponsored by the New Hampshire Chapter (Colin Lynch, Director; Elizabeth Black, Dean), is being held that week, and you are invited to stay after the lunch meeting for Ken Cowan's recital and master class starting at 1:30p. The POE is in Concord until 4p. In the afternoon, there will also be individual improvisation lessons, and a talk by George Bozeman on organ building---all of which you may observe.

Our bag lunch will include a choice of sandwiches. Please R.S.V.P. with your choice of:
(1) Italian: Ham, spicy ham, salami, provolone, hots, black olives, lettuce, tomato, onion with herbed oil
(2) "Famous" Tarragon chicken salad
(3) Tuna: All white and dolphin safe
(4) Vegetarian: Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, sprouts, broccoli & dill havarti cheese with herbed oil
(5) Hummus vegetarian: Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, sprouts, broccoli with herbed oil
(6) Turkey BLT: Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, herb & tomato mayonnaise

Please also specify your drink choice:
(1) Coke
(2) Diet Coke
(3) Ginger Ale
(4) Water
(5) Apple Juice

This meeting is intended for up to two representatives from each of our twenty chapters. The Dean and Sub Dean may delegate another officer or member to represent them. It would be great to have all chapters represented!

As in the past, I encourage you to request expense reimbursement from your Chapter for attendance at this meeting. This could be calculated by a mileage rate ($.55/miles is the current IRS rate), the cost of gasoline, or just a contribution towards yours expenses. Alternatively, I have some funds from which I could reimburse travel expenses---especially if the distance is long and your chapter will not support this trip for you. Please let me know your situation when you R.S.V.P. I would not want finances to prevent your attendance.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing you soon!
Lary.

TO: Region I Deans, Sub Deans, Nominating Committee, and Regional & National Leadership

I am hosting three events this summer and hope that it will be possible to have all of our twenty chapter represented at each. More specifics are given below, and please R.S.V.P. (as indicated) to facilitate food ordering and other planning.

I. Boston Convention - Leadership Lunch (Thursday, July 2, 2009, 11:45a - 12:45p, Church of the Advent)
This is an informal gathering with an invitation extended to the Dean of the Chapter (and National & Regional officers). The Dean may delegate an alternative representative if she or he is not attending the convention. Box lunch provided. Please R.S.V.P. to me with name and chapter.

II. Boston Convention - Regional Business Meeting (Friday, July 3, 2009, 11:45a - 12:45p, First Lutheran)
This is the annual business meeting held at the summer convention. All members of Region I are invited. I have various introductions and announcements to make. President Eileen Guenther will visit, as will other National and Regional officers who are attending the convention. Lunch provided. No need to confirm attendance.

III. Pipe Organ Encounter - Leadership Lunch (Tuesday, July 21, 2009, noon - 1p, St Paul's/Concord New Hampshire)
I invite up to two representatives from each Chapter to visit the POE and spend some time seeing the program in action. It has been a great opportunity for chapters considering hosting a POE (2010 POE will be hosted by Fairfield West/Bridgeport, 2011 is available for your chapter!) Please plan on staying after the lunch meeting for Ken Cowan's Master Class. Please R.S.V.P. to me with name and chapter.

Additionally, the opening Worship Service at the convention (Wednesday, July 1, 2009, 10:30a, St Cecilia) will begin with a Procession of Chapter, Regional and National Leadership. Marchers are invited to wear academic regalia (optional) or business attire. (Regalia may be rented from Oak Hall, 1-800-223-0429. It is VERY important to R.S.V.P. to Christian Lane who is coordinating the procession. I would appreciate it if all officers (National and Regional), Deans, and Sub Deans respond to Christian. Each chapter may have up to two marchers, and Deans and Sub Deans may designate an alternate.

My e-mail distribution list has the 2008-2009 Deans and Sub Deans. Please share this post with any new Deans or Sub Deans who are officially beginning their term on July 1, 2009. Please work out among yourselves which officer (if there is a change) or alternate will be attending lunches or marching.

The full schedule for the Boston convention is here.
